Just wanted to drop a note of thankfulness for your very helpful posts! Especially this one! I had been becoming overwhelmed reading a lot about daily schedules. We have 2 younger children and are expecting our 4th in a couple months, and, as much as we all thrive on a routine, scheduling school out daily just felt too rigid for our current season of life. I love how you schedule an undated week and just keep plugging away until its completed, even if it is taking longer than 4 or 5 days. That just seems like it will fit our life SO well right now and I feel so encouraged after reading this post! Thank you! I look forward to poking around your blog some more as I work through more of my planning! :)Sarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10061090428214352874noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2682457774245843924.post-56337304486979488732016-10-16T18:59:30.951-07:002016-10-16T18:59:30.951-07:00I don't think it's a problem to have diffe...I don't think it's a problem to have different weeks/terms represented -- just add their readings for that week, whatever they are, and carry on! :)Celestehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05834674328751444179noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2682457774245843924.post-76935648518832270272016-10-12T21:23:56.486-07:002016-10-12T21:23:56.486-07:00I really love your weekly check list. ...Yes, the one by Lauren Ford. It's wonderful!

I get my recommendations from various places. I was a member of the 4Real Catholic homeschooling forums before my kids were even born, and they always had wonderful suggestions, so I mentally filed away suggestions and bought them when I saw them pop up. I long have shopped used Catholic books (on sites like cathswap and others) and have built a library of this and that -- so I pull a lot from my own shelves. I have in the past checked Mater Amabilis, Jen's blog Wildflowers and Marbles, and others. We attend the Traditional Latin Mass, so I'm very picky when it comes to Catholic books and prefer vintage titles. I feel like a lot of the modern ones have been dumbed down (as with a lot of modern books -- not just Catholic ones! :)), so when I find good books, I buy them and try to fit them in. I hope that helps! :)Celestehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05834674328751444179noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2682457774245843924.post-51768449211750132582016-07-05T00:27:30.649-07:002016-07-05T00:27:30.649-07:00Hello dear Celeste,

That has been a long-standing tradition around here that I look forward to all week. :) Naps happen as usual, and then Saturday afternoons/evenings are low-key. We visit with family or get things done around the house. The big kids usually usually do one reading and narration on Saturdays, as well as chores and piano practice.

On Sundays, we make a real effort to avoid any unnecessary work. We also currently have to go to a noon Mass (when all three of the littlest usually nap!), so we do have to adjust for that. Sundays are when I spend time working in my commonplace and painting in my nature journal, and the big kids often join me. We play board games (my husband likes to play chess and card games with the kids) and read. I try to do a bit of handicrafts with the big girls while my husband is there to block interruptions. My kids also do some of their religion readings and narrations.

Hope that helps, Molly! I'm always narrating to myself, but I think I need more than that. I'm trying to write narrations and make some notes too, but I'm concerned about keeping up. I'm trying to decide if it is enough that I have a general idea about what happened (which is all I'll be able to remember using just oral narration!), or if I really do want to be able to have a more detailed description based on the chapters. I'm also trying to keep a BoC this year in tandem with my daughter. So far we're a little bogged down in the numbering and labeling, but we're just about over that hurdle. I should have started that before the beginning of the school year!Amberhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12689104216675201913noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2682457774245843924.post-74629229085289944902014-08-17T15:50:47.082-07:002014-08-17T15:50:47.082-07:00Yes, I'll definitely be keeping my big kids...Yes, I'll definitely be keeping my big kids' weekly readings on my sheet, just not broken up into sections and not with their daily work as well (math, penmanship, etc.).
