After a couple weeks of rain, we had a bright, beautiful day for our nature study outing this week, so we spent a lovely morning enjoying the sunshine. The children had a great time trying to see how much eucalyptus bark they could carry at once--huge strips were everywhere! And a black squirrel in the midst of all his gray friends caught our attention; too bad he was moving too fast to get a picture. We then spent the afternoon observing and drawing our tray of goodies: eucalyptus gum nuts, oak gulls, pine needles, acorns, and some new leaves to identify (of course!).
