Hello and Happy New Year!
I'm so happy to be back in the rhythm of things and back in this space, considering Miss Mason's wise words and homeschooling. I love a new year and a fresh start, and today I'm rolling the word obedience over and over in my mind.
I have two littles who obey Mama "most of the time" but that's not quite good enough, is it? I don't expect perfection from them, but I would so love to be able to ask for something once and have them obey. I would love to take them out and know they will be well-behaved and follow my requests. It's not as dire as it might sound, but we do need to work on habits, obedience chiefly.
Here's the advice from Miss Mason I'm carrying with me this year:
"The parent is invested with authority which the child intuitively recognizes. It is enough to say, 'Do this,' in a quiet, authoritative tone, and expect it to be done."
