 The beauty of the spring flowers growing in the grass beneath the old oak trees, the scent of the gorse blowing in from the marshes, the warm sun, the sea wind, these things were not affected by the state of the world.  Though apparently so fragile, their quality was more durable than the quality of anything that man could make...
