This morning we visited a neighborhood park set on the grounds of a historic mansion. It started out nice and cool, so we first let the children blow off some energy running around on the playground. Then we leisurely explored the shady walking trails that meandered through the rest of the park. The children had a great time climbing on old trunks and fallen branches, picking wildflowers, and walking along the dirt pathways that ran below and above the paved trail. We found a sprawling shrub absolutely covered with gorgeous sky-blue blooms, which we later identified as a Plumbago, and lots of wild blackberries and eucalyptus nuts. And then home to capture it all in our nature journals!
