Nature Study Outing - Week 7

This morning we met at the creek we met at last month.  We were hoping to revisit the friendly mallards and explore some other parts of the park.  The mallards weren't at the pond, but we did spot them down by the creek, and the kids loved watching them try to swim against and across the current to make their way over to us.  Two Steller's Jays squawked above us for quite a while, following us along from branch to branch--I think they were hunting for our snacks. :)  After some time along the creek banks, we ventured to the other side of the park, where there was a dry, rocky creek bed to play in.  The kids spent a good hour or so just playing with the reeds, climbing on the gnarled trees, and jumping off rocks.  We'll definitely be revisiting this little spot again!
