Keeping Company :: January Link-Up

Are you all ready to share your Keeping?  I've already seen a few relevant posts floating around here and there, and I'm excited to open up the linky so we can start collecting them in one place.  And more than that, I'm looking forward to sitting down and reading each one, so I'll be "visiting you" soon!

First, a quick announcement...

Are you on Instagram?  I am, and I wanted a way to include the enthusiastic Charlotte Mason community over there in our fun.  (And besides, I think its format is so conducive to a Keeping link-up!  A meshing of photos and words is a great way of recording notebooking habits.)

So, if you have Keeping photos (or want to add them) over on Instagram and want them to be included in this link-up, tag them with #KeepingCompanyCM.  I'll be checking that tag and hope to pull some of the examples from over there as I curate a monthly round-up/announcement post.

Okay, on to the link-up...

Instructions:

You should see the linky below.  Click on the "Add my link" button, and it will prompt you to include the information for your post.  Once you submit it, your link will be added to the list, and others will be able to click over and read what you have shared.

Guidelines:

:: Remember to link to a specific post and not to the homepage of your blog.

:: Posts on private blogs obviously can't be included.

:: Any posts about CM-style Keeping are welcome!  The prompt is optional.  Your post can be as simple as a photo of your commonplace book!  And please don't feel like you have to be an expert.  We are all looking to grow in these habits together. :)

:: Feel free to add more than one post.  The link-up will be open for a month, so you can come back and add more if you are so inclined.

:: You can grab the button over there on the sidebar if you'd like to add it to your post or your own site.

:: Questions?  Feel free to ask me in the comments.

I'll be adding my own thoughts on how we organize our notebooks next week, but for now, I'm looking forward to reading about all the Keeping you're doing in your homes.  Thank you for sharing!

  1. Hi Celeste, thanks for hosting this new link up. I'm looking forward to learning from everyone how they're keeping their various notebooks. Your link up is very timely as I have been reading "The Living Pages" as well, which has inspired me to put more thoughts and action into the act of keeping notes.

  2. Great idea for a link up, Celeste. Added my latest Commonplace quote despite the fact my handwriting is atrocious these days.

  5. My post is an older one and is not "about" keeping per se, but it has some nice pictures of our family nature notebook, so I thought it'd be ok to link. :)

  6. Thank you, Celeste for doing this! I keep refreshing your page, hoping to see more links showing up. I've already devoured the few there. This is currently one of my favorite CM related topics and I love reading and seeing other people's entries.

    1. Oh, I can relate, Heather--I am really feeling inspired in my Keeping lately also. It feels like such a gift to have come upon this habit at this point in my life. And I know others will be adding their entries later on--I wish there was a way to get notifications of new ones. I have just been coming over here and refreshing my page too! LOL

Thank you for sharing your beautiful post. I hope you'll come back and link any other relevant ones. I'm very happy for people to include more than one. (When I have a chance, I'll be adding a few of my own from the past. ;))

  7. I was explaining the concept of this link up to my kids, and my son asked if I could post pictures of his Lego inventions. I told him I might do a special Link Up for Lego inventions and other constructions. He's collecting all of his inventions together. He took my offer very seriously.

  10. Thanks for initiating this idea I fancy many homeschoolers crave the opportunity to see how others keep notebooks and so be inspired!
What I am really curious to know and see is how effective a Book of Centuries really is!!! I dont know of anyone that has kept one for an extended period of time and been able to express the benefits... just a thought...:)

    1. Hi Margaret! That's a great idea. I will make your suggestion in a future prompt to encourage those who have been homeschooling older children to chime in! It would be wonderful to see some examples from those who have used them over the long term. Thank you for stopping by!

  11. I'm really excited about this. I've been wanting to share more of how and what I'm keeping but just needed some inspiration. One question though, do you know if there is an easy way to make the button smaller? I added it to my blog but your sidebar is much wider than mine so it looks a bit odd. Thanks!

    1. Hi there! Yes, you can alter the size of the blog button fairly easily--you'll just need to add a bit to the code that you cut-and-pasted from over in the sidebar. It won't let me paste code into a comment, so email me (link over under my little bio in the sidebar) and I will send you the code to use instead!
